Woodward High School’s Adlyn Case
Woodward High School sophomore Adlyn Case is already making an impact as a varsity athlete, combining skill, composure and a strong sense of purpose both on and off the field.
Case, a pitcher, understands that her position demands more than physical ability. “The most difficult thing about it is the mental toughness,” she said. Staying focused in high-pressure situations is something she continues to develop, relying on a positive mindset and awareness of each moment in the game. “Thinking about the situation on the field and having a positive attitude about it” is key to her approach.
Her growth as an athlete has been shaped by valuable lessons learned through competition. Case said athletics has taught her how to remain calm under pressure, work as a team player and build a strong work ethic — skills she believes will benefit her well beyond high school.
Case credits her faith as a central source of inspiration. “Jesus inspires me because He showed unconditional love, compassion, and forgiveness,” she said. “He teaches me to treat others with kindness and to keep my faith even when life is difficult.” That perspective carries into her relationships with teammates, whom she describes as both supportive and fun. “We are all goofy and can always joke around with each other,” she said.
She also values the opportunity to compete alongside more experienced players. “I enjoy being able to play with upperclassmen,” Case said, noting that their leadership helps elevate her own performance. Among her teammates, she points to Kaleigh Mills as both the most vocal and one of the most influential. “She shows great leadership and has a great work ethic,” Case said, adding that Mills also keeps the team energized and laughing.
Off the field, Case enjoys building Legos and spending time with friends. She is also active in her community, attending church youth group weekly and giving pitching lessons to younger players.
In the classroom, Case’s favorite subject is English, and she credits teacher Nathan Jones as a positive influence. Whether at school, on the field or in her community, Case continues to develop into a well-rounded student-athlete grounded in discipline, faith and teamwork.
