Entering the educational field first as a fifth-grade teacher, Laci Wilson, is now the counselor at Woodward High School.
“I decided to go into teaching my freshman year of college after touring the education building at Northern Oklahoma College and seeing the impact the professors had on their students’ lives both academic and personal,” said Laci.
Laci does not treat her career as just a job, but more like a passion. She has spent a large part of her adult life furthering her own education, becoming a lifelong learner. Earning her associates at Northern Oklahoma College, then moving on to her bachelor’s degree from Mid-American Christian University. After that she went on to pursue a master’s in counseling at Southeastern Oklahoma State University and finally earning a Master of Science in community college counseling degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University.
“My favorite thing about teaching is helping families inside and outside of the classroom and providing resources to ensure they are thriving personally and academically,” Laci said.
Her inspiration to continuing learning and work hard at her chosen career comes from her family.
“My family inspires me to be better and to keep growing in my profession,” Laci said. “Through their support it has been possible for me to follow my dreams of making a difference.”
In her free time Laci enjoys spending time outdoors with her family which include her high school sweetheart and their two children Jack and Jessalyn. In the summer she and her kids enjoy spending time at the waterpark and zoo together.
