It’s a great time to be a Boomer! As the gym warms up, head coach Jonathan Roper is looking forward to seeing just how good this team can become over the course of a season. “The Boomers are a very energetic, hard-nosed team,” said coach Roper. Leading the way is Zach Chavez (6-0, Sr.) at guard. Chavez brings a high level of intensity to the court for the Boomers and plays salty defense. Jack Mead (6-3, Sr.) is a tough power forward who has the ability to “flip the switch,” when it’s game time. He is the vocal leader the team needs down the stretch. Jesus Cano (6-5, Sr.) will likely start at center where his presence in the paint will force teams to second guess driving the lane. Cano’s presence makes everyone around him better. Sammy Baker (5-8, Sr.) will run the point while Peyton Hughes (5-8, Sr.) will start at shooting guard. Also look for Hunter Weber, a dynamic underclassman who has a tremendous work ethic and a passion to improve his game.
