Woodward Girls Basketball Preview – Presented by Stock Exchange Bank

Coach: Llyod Vedder
20-21 Record: 10-10

Two starters are back for the Lady Boomers and head coach Lloyd Vedder is looking forward to seeing how this team will shape up with several younger players expected to contribute in big ways. “We plan to be an up-tempo team relying on team speed to carry us in games,” said coach Vedder. Thessaly Pfeifer (5-8, Jr.) is the leading scorer and rebounder for Woodward. She has a knack for getting the ball while on defense and can score in the paint or hit from the outside. Masey Porter (5-6, Sr.) will start at point guard and run the offense for coach Vedder. Porter is a leader on the floor and will complement Pfeifer very well. Averi Edwards (5-7, Jr.) is a quick, athletic guard who can take defenders off the dribble and play tough defense on the other end. Jissele Hagemeier (5-7, Sr.) has a slashing style on offense that is tough to stop. Riley Moore (5-9, So.) will likely handle the post position this season. Moore is one of the more improved players since last season. One area that makes Moore tough to defend is her ability to step out and shoot the three. Also look for Jocelyn Treece (5-8, So.) to come into the game and play valuable minutes this season. Presley Pruett is another player who works hard every day to help the team succeed.
