Woodward’s Cooper Littau – Athlete Spotlight Presented by Kevin Cansler State Farm

Cooper Littau, a Woodward High School junior, likens baseball to, well, anything.

“In baseball and life,” Littau said, “you will get bad hops and make errors, but you need to stay positive and move forward.”

Littau also plays football, but it’s America’s pastime that has his heart.

“I am passionate about baseball because I have played it since I was 4, and I have made many friends from all over,” Littau said. “I also love the feeling when I make a good play in the field.”

His father was one of his first coaches on his little league team, something Littau doesn’t take for granted.

“I would like to thank my parents because they have driven me all over so I get to play baseball,” Littau said. “My mom and dad inspire me, because they push me to achieve my goals and are very supportive of me.”

The best advice Littau has ever received: “You’ve got to have a short memory, because you are going to make errors.” It’s not an easy task balancing two sports, but it’s even tougher when you add school leadership team, FCA, national honor society, pep club and a summer job (Littau’s a life guard when school’s out).

“My favorite teacher was my first grade teacher, Mrs. Balch, because she made sure learning was always fun and she still supports me with my high school goals,” Littau said.

Some other favorites of Littau’s: food, crab legs; memory, playing a tournament in Gulf Shorts, Alabama; and player, Fernando Tatis Jr.

“I look up to Fernando Tatis Jr. because he always seems to be having fun when playing baseball,” Littau said. “I also like his style and the way he is flashy.

As a young athlete, some teammates have an unforgettable impact on you. The same is true for Littau.

“Nash Hunter left a big impression on me in baseball and football, because he was a great leader and expected everyone to give 100%,” Littau said.

Littau doesn’t take his experience as a Woodward Boomer for granted.

“My favorite part about playing for Woodward High School is the supportive community and the amazing fans,” Littau said.
