Q&A with Woodward’s Sophia Baeza – Presented by Great Plains Bank Woodward

VYPE: What grade are you in and what sports do you play?
Sophia: I am a freshman at Woodward High School. I am a member of the wrestling, cheer, and track teams.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade?
Sophia: My favorite teacher/coach is Ken Gordon-he pushes me to my highest potential and has always reminded me to never give up even when things get hard. He motivates me to do my best in every aspect.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you?
Sophia: That would be my brother Jessiah because he pushes me harder and harder everyday and helps me improve my technique.

VYPE: Here is your chance to give a shoutout or say thank you to anyone you wish.
Sophia: I want to thank my coach Natasha Turner -she is the reason we have a girls wrestling team and is a big part in my life.

VYPE: Which professional athlete do you look up to?
Sophia: I look up to Sha’Carri Richardson because she has fierce determination, phenomenal performances and she started as an underdog! She is one of the greatest of all time.

VYPE: Who inspires you?
Sophia: I would say my inspiration is my family and close friends because they have always believed in me and have supported me since day 1.

VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?
Sophia: The best advice someone has given me is to never throw in the towel, use it to wipe your sweat and keep going.

VYPE: What is your all-time favorite meal?
Sophia: My favorite meal is a steak, caesar salad, and a coke to drink.

VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?
Sophia: I would pick to go to the Bahamas and I would take my family with me.
