VYPE: What do you love most about being a student-athlete at Woodward HS?

Gipson: I like how supportive they are for multi-sport athletes.

VYPE: What grade are you in and how long have you wrestled?

Gipson: I’m a senior in high-school and I’ve wrestled for 12 years.

VYPE: What’s your favorite subject in school and do you have a favorite teacher?

Gipson: My favorite subject is math, however my favorite teacher would be Daci Fletcher the band director.

VYPE: Who in the wrestling room is the toughest workout partner?  

Gipson: The toughest workout partner in the room currently would be my little brother Cayden Gipson.

VYPE: Which teammate always impresses you the most or do you have a former teammate who left an impression on you?

Gipson: I had a teammate in the past who left an impression on me I can never forget, his name was Julio Aguirre. As friends who shared a birthday, we spent a lot of time in the room going to multiple practices a day and pushing each other to be better.

VYPE: What would you like to do after you graduate?

Gipson: I’d like to go to school to obtain my pilot’s license.

VYPE: Who is the best opponent you’ve ever faced and how did it turn out?

Gipson: Honestly the toughest person I ever had to wrestle at a tournament was in my younger days when my teammate and I were the same weight, my teammate at the time, Julio Aguirre, soundly beat me with a big grin.

VYPE: What move took you the longest to master or get good at?

Gipson: The move that took me the longest to get good at was the fireman’s carry, as someone who’s typically taller and skinnier than his opponent it was a tough move for me.

VYPE: Is wrestling the toughest sport? Why? 

Gipson: Wrestling is by far the toughest sport I’ve done, it takes a lot of movement then strength. It takes determination, grit, and perseverance to do the same stuff every single day for the dream of it someday paying off.
