Melanie Matt lives by Woodward’s community motto of “Once a Boomer, Always a Boomer” and she is the proud mother of two Woodward student-athletes Ethan and Macie. Ethan competes on the football team and Macie is a member of the dance squad. Matt has been so happy to watch her children grow up and participate in the wonderful community.
“My favorite thing about being able to raise my family here is the amount of community support they show our youth,” Matt said.
Matt isn’t only appreciative of the support, she is very involved herself and integral to many of the activities and organizational functions within the school athletics and booster clubs.
“I am happy to not only serve on the executive committee for the Boomer Touchdown Club but also for the Boomer Dance Team Moms,” Matt said. “I will forever cherish the nights that Macie was able to dance on the sidelines while Ethan was playing football.”
In the Touchdown Club, Matt and other parents organize fundraisers and secure sponsorships that allow the Club to host team dinners each week as well as provide financial assistance to purchase equipment for the football program.
“We have a great group of very supportive moms and dads that make all of our efforts possible,” Matt said.
For any parents interested in getting involved and assisting with clubs, fundraising, or general support but aren’t sure where to start, Matt has this advice:
“Jump in and volunteer. Sports are what our children are involved in, so become involved yourself so that you’re able to soak up all the memories with them. Four years will be over all too soon but the memories last a lifetime.”
Outside of their involvement in sports and Woodward school activities the Matts enjoy spending their time together as a family. Whether that means traveling, camping, showing livestock, being out on the lake, or skiing the slopes, for the Matts, together is the best place to be.
