Woodward’s Brynn Custar – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Farm Credit of Western Oklahoma

Woodward High School’s Brynn Custar first started in FFA when she was in the 8th grade. But her love for FFA came later.

“It wasn’t until my freshman year that I truly fell in love with the program. My friend Erica Kline was the reason I first got involved she would drag me along to all sorts of contests and meetings which coming from a shy kid was not my cup of tea, but as I got more involved, I started to find my footing soon I was going to contests on my own I had caught the FFA fever and there was no slowing me down,” said Custar.

Now a senior, Custar said she is involved in many activities and loves being in the FFA family.

“I have competed in livestock judging, speech, creed, greenhand quiz, opening and closing ceremonies, shooting sports – although everyone can testify, I’m not very good at it, and I conduct chapter meetings. I have had the joy of showing and raising my own pigs for the last four years,” said Custar. “My favorite thing about FFA has to be the community I have gone to many camps throughout my time in FFA and at each one you are welcomed with an overwhelming sense of community and belonging.”

Custar is a member of the cross country team, track team and S.A.L.T. at Woodward HS.
Being part of the cross country team has been a great experience according to Custar.

“I love the atmosphere of cross country they are probably the most welcoming and religious group of kids from across the state. I love how encouraging they all are telling you that it’s not about how well you do on your good days but how you get back up from your bad ones,” said Custar.

The senior plans to pursue a degree in Agriculture Business and Communications next year.
