Almost all athletes know that you cannot just show up on game day and expect to be the best player you can be if you do not practice. There is a lot of work that goes into being prepared to compete. Allie DonCarlos says that you have to be the best in practice before you can become the best on the field.
“Practice makes perfect is a saying that is completely true,” she said. “If you are willing to put the work in, you will see the results you want.”
DonCarlos is a senior at Woodward High School, where she is a pitcher and a first baseman for the softball team. Allie has played sports for twelve years.
The hard work that Allie has put in over years has paid off and led to what she considers her favorite memory as an athlete.
“The highlight of my career is an easy choice,” she said. “Making it to the state tournament during my freshman and sophomore years was really awesome. Being able to share that with my teammates and coaches was really great.”
Throughout her life, Allie says that she has been blessed with people that have made a positive impact on her. These people have helped her become the person that she is today.
“One of my biggest role models is my grandpa,” she said. “He always pushes me to be better each and every day. Another would have to be my favorite teacher, Mrs. Terry. Although she taught me a lot in the classroom, she has taught me a lot on the field and how to be a better player and teammate.
Outside of athletics, Allie is involved in a variety of clubs around campus. She is a part of Future Farmers of America, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Sub Debs, National Honor Society as well as serving as a class officer. DonCarlos is also involved with her church’s youth group.
“I enjoy hanging out with my friends at church,” she said. “I also enjoy being a role model for the younger girls to look up to.”
